Sofi Ureña

Sofi is a Costa Rican dancer and teacher passionate about the fusion of styles and dance as a form of authentic and liberating expression. Since she was a child, she has explored disciplines such as ballet, jazz, and hip-hop, and it was at age 15, when she discovered belly dancing, that she began to forge a deep connection with movement.

She has worked intensively with Chair Dance and Heels for the past five years, developing a regionally pioneering artistic approach that fuses these techniques with Belly Dance, essential elements of Frame Up, and Floorwork. Her performance language celebrates feminine sensuality from an empowered, intimate, and authentic perspective; a sensuality that doesn't respond to external gaze, but rather is born from the recognition of the inner power that resides within every body.

She is co-director of Amira Dance Studio with Tatiana Montero, where they have created a safe and creative space for artistic growth.

Tribal GT marked a turning point in her life: it was at its first edition in 2018 that she dared to step out of her comfort zone and discovered a world of possibilities in Fusion Belly Dance. Since then, the festival has been a constant source of inspiration and evolution for her as an artist and as a teacher.

Sofi is characterized by her inclusive approach, her warm teaching, and her respect for each person's unique journey. She believes in dance as a vehicle to connect, heal, and celebrate her body from the most authentic perspective.

Workshop with Sofí Ureña

Sofi Ureña will offer a workshop focused on floorwork and exploring the ground as a creative ally. Her training in heels enhances the content of this space, offering techniques, practical tips, and a fresh perspective on sensuality and empowerment through movement.

More than a festival

Tribal GT is your opportunity to take your dance to the next level while experiencing a unique experience. Between intensive workshops, exciting performances, and genuine connections, you'll discover that this festival becomes much more than an event: it becomes part of your story as a dancer. Guatemala awaits you to write the next chapter together!
